Working group created for DEPA adhesion

It will boost export goods and services companies, says Mincetur.

17/11/2024 23:47 In the context of the APEC meetings held in Lima, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) announced the creation of the Working Group for Peru’s adhesion to the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA). “The DEPA is a new important cooperation platform in terms of new technologies and digital economy that will allow us to push initiatives in favor of foreign trade operators,” stated Mincetur.This way, Peru seeks to create key opportunities to benefit exporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and insert them into global value chains. Peru works jointly with the member countries of the DEPA in other multilateral spaces, such as APEC, the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Pacific Alliance, in order to promote the development of electronic commerce.

Likewise, bilateral cooperation actions with Korea to promote digital transformation in Peru, has already begun. The announcement on the creation of the Working Group for Peru’s accession to the DEPA was made after the meeting held by the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Teresa Mera; with the ministers of the member countries of this association (Chile, New Zealand, Singapore and Korea), within the framework of the APEC Economic Leaders Week, which took place in Lima. The ceremony was also attended by ministers and officials of commerce of Chile, Korea, New Zealand, and Singapore.
